Healthy Habits to Promote a Longer Life

A majority of people would much rather live a long life full of happiness and fulfillment rather than die unexpectedly at a young age. Unfortunately, there are various circumstances which are unavoidable causing the loss of life to be inevitable. However, there are certain habits which you may consider developing today in an effort to reduce your risks of dying at an early age. While many people claim to know the secret to a long life, it is dependent upon much more than one specific element. Here are some healthy habits that may increase your life expectancy and allow you to live a happier and more fulfilled life.

Know When You Are Full

There are many reasons why it is unhealthy and even dangerous to overeat. Eating more food than you really need, can actually increase the rate at which you age according to studies that have been completed. T3 is a specific hormone in the thyroid which is responsible for slowing your metabolism over time. Eating too many calories or eating more food than your body requires will actually increase the level of T3 which means you may find yourself aging much more quickly than you would like to see.

Have Sex on a Regular Basis

Studies have shown that sexual activity can burn quite a few calories. Depending on your level of activity, you could be burning close to the same amount of calories that you would be if you chose to run for a solid 30 minutes. Other experiments that have been conducted indicate that your heart is protected by such activity and your blood pressure may be lowered. Developing immunity to various sicknesses has also been attributed to regular sexual activity.

Maintain Healthy Relationships

Unfortunately, many people do not realize the importance of maintaining healthy relationships. Developing lasting friendships with family members, friends, coworkers, and even neighbors can help provide you with a network of caring individuals who can boost your spirits on a regular basis. The older people become, the more prone they are to become depressed. While depression can be caused from several different reasons, one of the most popular is loneliness. When an individual has no one to confide in or to share experiences with, it can be difficult to be motivated to do anything. When a person has no one to spend time with, living life may all of a sudden become a burden rather than an enjoyable situation. Your decision to begin today to develop strong relationships may be a saving grace for you down the road.

Stay Active

Staying active is much more than maintaining a regular exercise routine or moving around a little each day. Perhaps this is the most important aspect of staying active, but there are other parts as well. In order to keep an active body, it is critical that you find ways in which you can exercise your body on a daily basis even if it is the equivalent of walking around the block one time. In addition, make an effort to constantly be learning new things. Studies show that elderly people who play brain games, learn new technology, and engage in intellectual conversation are much more likely to live longer. If you choose to develop these healthy habits from the beginning of life, you may increase your chances of living longer on an exponential level.

Eat Healthy

One of the most obvious habits to develop in your efforts to live longer is that of eating healthy. Choosing to consume a large amount of junk food that is high in cholesterol, fat, and calories could potentially have detrimental effects to your health. Likewise, consuming excessive amounts of alcohol or tobacco could pose a similar threat. It is smart to make your diet 75% raw in order to maintain a healthy body that has strong immune health. Eating healthy may also increase your energy levels which may cause you to be able to remain active for a longer period of time.

Enjoy the Sun in Moderation

While basking in the Sun’s warm rays is an enjoyable pastime for many people, excessive consumption of ultraviolet light may actually decrease your life expectancy. If you find that you are in the Sun quite often for various reasons, it is a wise decision to invest in some good sunscreen. Taking good care of your skin and avoiding extreme exposure to the Sun may help to eliminate blotches, wrinkles, spots, and sags. It may also reduce your risks of getting skin cancer.
Choosing to implement these healthy habits into your life may help you to recognize other areas in which you can make some positive changes. Through your decision to develop and keep some of these fantastic habits, you may find that your life has suddenly become happier and more fulfilling. At the same time, you may be able to add some years onto the life you love.
